first post!!

Hello! My name is Colleen and to the people out there reading this who do not know me (which I'm assuming is no one because I'm 100% sure the only person reading this is Brule), I am a TV junkie. Thanks to Netflix (and Hulu and Amazon Prime) I can watch pretty much anything I've ever thought about watching. One of those bad boys probably has it and since I work from home, I can binge watch better than most. Seriously, if it were a sport, I'd be an Olympic gold medalist, but it's not a sport so pretty much I am just a bum with entirely too much time on my hands.

A little background on me: I am the youngest, by a lot, of three siblings. Growing up my big brother decided that he was going to make sure I had good taste in movies. When girls my age were going to see the latest Freddie Prinze Jr movie, I was seeing the Royal Tenenbaums, The Usual Suspects, or Star Wars (which, mini rant, is so great that it's cool to like Star Wars now. I really enjoyed being made fun of growing up for liking it. So fucking awesome). However, my brother never really molded my opinion on any TV shows because they werent as spectacular back in the 90's as they are today. So over my years of binge watching, my TV show preferences have evolved by my own trial and error (of watching terrible/great shows).

My TV preferences at this point in my life are as follows:
-female lead
-sci-fi
-character driven rather than plot driven
-comedies, more so than dramas

If I see a show is a combo of the above description, there's a good chance I'm going to watch it/enjoy it. But I do like other genres, I don't only watch sci-fi or comedies, I just feel more inclined to watch them as I usually enjoy them. I like watching shows with female leads because I too am a female. (Wait, what? I AM?)  I tend to relate well to those characters, am more invested in them, especially if a story is character driven rather than plot. I'm more interested in seeing character growth than a larger than life plot. I think there is something incredibly lazy about having a weekly CATASTROPHE EVENT even LARGER AND MORE DESTRUCTIVE than the week before. I'd rather watch the characters I love and hate get in scrapes and change and adapt because of them. I'm sure I'll write more in depth about that on a future post and I'm positive it will be about Grey's Anatomy (I have a great Shonda Rhimes rant!).

So my plan for this blog is to write weekly about shows I like and dislike. It may evolve as time goes on into something else, maybe I'll review tv shows weekly as they air, who knows? All I know is television has become incredibly awesome to watch and I have a lot of feelings and emotions about it, okay? I want to write it all down and share it with the world/Brule because he's probably the only person who's going to read this.

My first real post is going to be about Daredevil or Parks and Recreation. Or maybe something completely different. I'm a fucking mystery!

If you want to know what I'm watching on a daily basis, you can follow me on twitter at @colleeeeeeeeeny and I use the hashtag #WatchWithColleen (because I am so creative!). I'm going to go ahead and put a blanket ***SPOILER ALERT*** here for any of my tweets. Deal with it.

Thanks for reading this, I'm not a writer or a TV critic. I'm pretty much some hipster TV watching asshole who thinks the world needs to hear my opinions. Please  feel free to continue to ignore me.
